1307: Rashid al-Din (拉施德丁)

 

A Persian Jew converted to Islam at the age of 30

 

Rashid ah-Din (1247–1318) was a Persian Jew who converted to Islam at the age of 30. He was also a historian who focused on the Mongol Empire, a prolific writer, and an influential statesman.

 
 

The Collected Works of Rashid (拉施德丁史集) was published

 

In 1307, Rashid ah-Din’s book, The Collected Works of Rashid, was published.

 
 

Forbade Muslims and Jews from ritual slaughtering

 

The book recorded that in 1280, Kublai Khan forbade the Muslims and Jews from ritual slaughtering. Ah-Din told in detail the story that was most probably documented in the Code of Yuan on 27th January 1280.

 
 

Forbad circumcision

 

The book noted that Kublai Khan forbade circumcision in 1283.

 
 

Relaxed restrictions to increase tax revenue

 

The book further wrote that, in 1287, Kublai Khan was persuaded to relax these rules because the restriction led to a decrease in foreign trade and tax revenue.
